فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
“"So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."”
So taste, and never will We increase you except in torment
Just as you only increased in sins and crimes because you thought you will never be taken to account, so will you now only be increased in punishment. This is how this punishment is earned and completely just.
So taste - Taste the punishment for the actions you did, that have been recorded justly, with all accompanying intentions and reasons. You are not being treated unjustly. You are merely paying for what you did.
There is no zawj anymore. There is no coupling of things with their pairs. Punishment will not be coupled with relief. The grief of the hereafter, does not have comfort
coupled with it. These criminals did not expect to be taken to account. A criminal will only commit more crimes if he knows he will get away with it. Hence, these people only kept on increasing in their sins, crimes and arrogance.
You will only have punishment, which only keeps on increasing in intensity, just as you kept on increasing in your crimes. Just as you never turned back and did not increase except in crimes, so will we not turn back this punishment and will not increase you except in punishment. Hence,
