In what position are you to mention it
This can mean two things. First, it could be directed to the prophet ﷺ to say that neither you nor anyone else has any knowledge of it. Secondly, it could be a rebuke
of their question. It could be that after the word ( فيم in what), the words ‘this question’ are omitted. In which case, it would be to condemn their question of it - of what worth or importance is this question? The next part of the verse would then be
indicating the role of the prophet ﷺ . You are only to mention and remind people of it, not to respond to these futile questions of theirs.37
