Remember how Allah constantly used the word Khashyah, which means a fear that is induced because of certain knowledge that produces a change in you? After hearing of all these descriptions regarding judgment day, these people are still mocking. Like Pharaoh, they have turned back and strove in the opposite direction.

This is why the word Ayyān is used which is emphatic. WHEN is its arrival? WHEN will

it come? You promise us it will come but WHEN is it? They are mocking it. Just like Pharaoh, they have turned their backs and are striving in the opposite direction, which they will dearly regret when the overwhelming calamity comes. For now, Allah is holding back the reins of His punishment from them.
