Then say to him, “Would you achieve tazkiyyah?”

I left the word Tazkiyyah untranslated though it is normally translated as purification. This is true but fails to capture the whole picture. The root of this word is زكو which was used for:

● Fertile land ● Growth and increase in crops A land is only made fertile, and its crops increased in both quantity and quality, through proper irrigation.

Look at how earlier, Allah described revelation as water and hence life flowing out from the sacred valley of Ṭuwā. Revelation is to the soul what water is to the body. Moses asks Pharaoh if he would be willing to give life to his soul. If he will let that water - revelation - nourish the garden of his soul to make it lush, green, and pure.
