What is Linguistic Miracle?
Work in Progress
Linguistic Miracle is a work in progress. Currently, tafsir of only a handful of Surahs has been completed. Linguistic Miracle is a tafsir/exegesis of the Quran based on root analysis and principles of Classical Arabic rhetoric and grammar. It is my view that the understanding of the Quran in the non-Arab and even the Arab world, does not even touch the surface of the Quran.
We need to understand the miracle of the Quran exists in its language. It is purely a linguistic miracle and it is precisely this which sets it apart from every other literary work as well as scriptures. The Arabs at the time of the Prophet - even the disbelievers - expressed wonder and marvel at the Quran. These people did not sit down and go through extensive studies of the Quran and tafsir as we do today. They were overcome by wonder at simply hearing the Quran. What is it that they understood that led them to marvel at it? What is it that they knew that we don't? Arabic.
The Arabs at that time excelled in Arabic. This was their specialty. If the people of Pharoah excelled in sorcery and magic, the Arabs at the time of our Prophet excelled in Arabic. Moses defeated Pharoah's magicians - the very thing they excelled at - and that was his miracle. Muhammad defeated the Arabs in their language - the very thing they excelled at - and that is his miracle.
To understand the Quran and its truly unparalleled eloquence., one must master the Arabic language before anything else. It is unfortunate that Muslims have neglected this fact more than anything else. Even the Arabic speaking world is guilty of this as even their understanding of the Quran remains shallow due to the lack of proper learning of classical, Quranic Arabic.
The Mission
It is imperative to revive Arabic. Just as our bodies need food so do our souls need nourishment and food; and the food of our souls is the Quran. Without proper understanding of Arabic, our understanding of the Quran will remain shallow and incomplete, as a result of which, our souls will remain hungry and malnourished. This expresses itself in the form of a restless heart.
Not everyone can learn Arabic. Not everyone has the time or resources to do it either. This is why I launched my project - Linguistic Miracle. It is an exegesis/tafsir of the Quran purely from its linguistic aspects. The main goal of Linguistic Miracle is to bridge the gap that exists between the Quran and people unfamiliar with Arabic. Linguistic miracle is a work in progress and has just been started.
