Then when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity

When the overwhelming calamity - a calamity that overwhelms all earth and all those on it - comes, Allah will let the earth exact its revenge.

The word Ṭāmmah is translated as overwhelming calamity. At its root, it was used for

the sea, but more commonly for covering or sealing something like a well completely with dirt. This is the calamity that overwhelms everyone. It will happen when Allah lets loose the reins of the earth that are holding it back.
