The word ( مرصاد ambush) is closely related in meaning to ( ميقات appointed time) in verse 16. Both imply a fixed, determined time and place for the recompense of the
transgressors respectively. ات ‰ ( ميق appointed time) implies the determined time whereas ( مرصاد ambush) implies the determined place. Just as we say in daily language, I will take my revenge on that day, at that place.
Verses 17, 18 and 19 described the events that occur at the determined time, whereas this and the coming verses will describe the events that occur at the determined place. What is meant by Hell waiting in ambush will be explained later.
